About Our Firm
Structural Concepts, Inc. is a structural engineering consulting firm located in Winchester, Virginia. Started in 1988, our firm provides structural design services for new buildings, structural investigations of existing buildings and evaluations of structural issues. Our range of expertise varies greatly from small residential investigations to the design of multi-million dollar commercial projects. Our firm works with architects, developers, contractors and building owners. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service, effective designs and thorough contruction documents.

Jody A. Fox, P.E.
President / Chief Structural Engineer

Mr. Fox coordinates with the design team, oversees the development of documents, and reviews all structural documents before they are issued. Mr. Fox has forty-two years experience in structural design, engineering management, cost estimating, structural inspections, and evaluation and remedial design of structural deficiencies.
Jeff Layman
Senior Structural Designer

Mr. Layman focuses on project design and oversees the development of structural documents. With thirty years of experience in structural engineering, he specializes in calculating loads, sizing framing members, and evaluating connections to ensure continuous load paths. Mr. Layman is skilled in using Revit and AutoCAD for creating building plans, sections, and details. Mr. Layman also coordinates with clients throughout the design process and provides support during construction phases.
